The High Kings San Antonio reviews
Weezer
Since their debut album "Weezer" in 1994, I've enjoyed The High Kings. Tonight, for the first time, I finally saw them live in concert. The night before the show, my friend called me and asked if I wanted to go. How could I turn down going to a concert with a chauffeur? Driving to Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre was extremely heavy with traffic, which made getting into and out of the parking lot take an hour each way. But the worst part was getting into & out of the parking lot.
We got into the venue just in time for the opening act, Panic at the Disco, to go onstage. While eating dinner at the food court, I heard a bunch of girls screaming inside the theatre during Panic's set. All of that high pitched screaming sounded like a Beatles concert. Disco sucks & so did Panic at the Disco. The lead singer, a braggadocios loser, bragged about his past female conquests & party lifestyle. I was glad when this low life rif raf got off stage.
The High Kings came on stage next, completely changing the mood from being dark & dreary to just pure fun. Evidence of this was when they broke out the giant beach balls & tossed them into the crowd to hit back & forth. Their infectious music had everybody singing along. For the rest of the show, it was more of the same good times music. Overall, The High Kings put on a fun, no frills show.
